The Simrad AR83 Bearing Repeater displays vessel heading from a connected gyrocompass with a display accuracy of ±0.3°, on a dual dial marked every 1° (outer dial), every 0.5° (inner dial) and numbered every 10°. With an attached azimuth circle, this heading can be used to take bearings on celestial bodies and surface targets. Dial illumination provides clear visibility in all lighting conditions, with brightness controlled by a rotary button beneath the display. The AR83 Bearing Repeater runs on 24VDC. The repeater is pre-configured to accept NMEA 0183 HDT heading sentences from the Simrad GC80 and GC85 gyrocompasses, but may be configured to work with other NMEA-compatible Simrad gyrocompass models. This repeater must be mounted in a BB Repeater Holder, MB Repeater Holder or BH Repeater Stand, sold separately. Connection from repeater to gyrocompass is made via an interface box integrated with each of these mounting options. The AR83 should be mounted where it is most convenient for the user, with regard to the unit’s environmental protection, temperature range and cable length. The unit should not be installed in areas exposed to heavy vibrations.
